If you’re a busy mom or dad on-the-go, you know a travel system is almost a must-have. But you can’t just pick any travel stroller, right? You would want it light and portable so you can get from point A to point B without breaking a sweat. You need a lightweight travel system.
My Tiny Traveller has hand-picked the several lightweight travel strollers that will make your everyday life soooo much easier. Here are several gems, including the lightest travel system on the market today.
Why Get a Lightweight Travel System?
When you have a baby, there are certain items you need for travel. If taking a vehicle, you need a rear-facing infant car seat to keep your little one safe from harm, especially if an accident occurs. For walks or running errands, you can try using a baby carrier, but if you have a purse, diaper bag, or groceries, it may not be possible to carry all those things at once. That’s why most busy parents add a stroller to their baby item list.
You can buy those things separately, or get yourself a travel system. These come with the car seat, base, and stroller all together. Of course, if you’re going to use a travel system, you’ll want to look at all the features, like storage space, safety features, and the size of the pieces. Another important thing to look at is the weight, especially since you’ll be moving that car seat from your home to your car and back.
You can also attach the car seat to the stroller, hence the travel system. This adds the weight of the car seat to the weight of the stroller. The heavier they are on their own, the heavier they’ll be when you put them together, especially when you add in the weight of the baby. The lighter these pieces are, the easier they will be to move around, on their own or all together.
Top 4 Lightweight Travel System
If you’re really keen on finding the best lightweight travel system – and we mean really light – look no further than the Maxi Cosi Kaia & Mico NXT. At 19 pounds for the stroller and 7.9 pounds for the car seat, it’s the lightest premium infant travel system in the market. Because of its featherlike weight, it’s easy to fold and store – great for parents on-the-go! Despite its weight, the Maxi Cosi Kaia & Mico NXT can still accommodate children up to 50 pounds. It doesn’t have any of the frills heavier models have though, and it’s as bare as a travel system can get.
This is for the traveling moms and dads or for parents that are 100% decided on owning the lightest stroller on the planet. Learn more about the Maxi Cosi Kaia here.
If you want the lightest stroller possible, you can’t beat the Disney Amble Quad Travel System. In fact, it is the lightest set on our list. The stroller weighs only 16.4 pounds, which is amazingly light in terms of strollers. Adding the car seat only increases the weight by 7.6 pounds, so even combined, this travel system won’t cause any strain while you walk with your little one.
This travel system doesn’t skimp on the features either. It has a multi-position reclining seat, an adjustable canopy with a peek-a-boo window, snack trays, and a one-hand fold. The car seat is even side impact protected, carrying up to 22 pounds of baby.
The Chicco Neuvo is a rare model. It’s light – just 29 pounds – but complete with features moms and dads will love. The stroller seat is a multi-position reclining seat fitted with a 5-point adjustable harness for maximum safety. The travel system also includes a KeyFit 30 infant car seat, a side impact tested and a “NEW” FMVSS 213 conformer infant car seat. Baby will also feel much more comfortable thanks to the Neuvo’s two-position leg rest. Doting moms and dads will appreciate the stroller’s all-wheel suspension, ergonomic push handles, and convenient compact fold feature.
It’s a tad bit expensive, but you can’t just find a lightweight travel system that’s this well-made. Learn more about the Chicco Neuvo here.
The FastAction Fold is already the best in a lot of categories, but here it is again. Even though this lightweight travel system weights just 21.3 pounds for the stroller and only 7 pounds for the car seat, it has all the essentials and a little bit more.
