Stroller Features

The Quinny company has been around since the 1960s. When they opened, they sold baby care products and only entered the stroller market in 1989 and have been creating fashionable strollers ever since. Quinny has always tried to make strollers that are more than your parent’s or grandparent’s stroller.

They are known for pushing the limits of fashion and design to be a trendsetter in this market. They proved this when they released the world’s first all-black stroller. Since then, they have been continuing to make some of the best urban environment strollers in the world.

They have proved that they are still one of the best when they brought home the Best Wheeled Goods Brand of the Year for the 2014 Nursery Industry Awards beating other favorite brands such as Graco and Safety 1st.

Quinny often focuses on 2-4 strollers per year. For the 2015 year, they have chosen to focus on three designs, the Buzz Xtra being one of them. The other strollers that Quinny currently offers are the Moodd and Zapp Xtra. The Quinny Buzz Xtra is the least expensive of the three strollers that Quinny currently has to offer and yet it does not sacrifice in quality or design.

In Comparison

Quinny Buzz Bassinet The Quinny Zapp Xtra is designed to look and act more like an upgraded umbrella stroller with its separated handles, four smaller wheels, and fewer riding options. While still offering the large basket below, the large canopy, and quality materials, the Zapp Xtra is less suited to rough terrain than the Quinny Buzz Xtra. Out of these two strollers, the Buzz Xtra is a better all-around stroller since it can be used on rougher terrain.

The Moodd, on the other hand, is similar to the Buzz Xtra in almost all aspects. From the number and type of wheels to the large canopies above. The Moodd does have some additional features, however, such as detachable wheels for a more compact fold and wheel suspension to give an even smoother ride. The front is different as well in the Moodd as it uses a T-shaped safety bar instead of the full U-shaped bar on the Buzz Xtra. However, the question of whether or not these differences along with the extra cost for the Moodd make the Moodd a better stroller or not is up to personal choice.

Design and Uses

The Quinny Buzz Xtra has shaved off a little weight over the years and has also become easier to fold. It is now a mere 25.6 x 9.8 x 8.7 inches. This means that it will easily fit in all but the smallest of cars, even with groceries.

To open it from this folded state, you merely have to press the trigger and the hydraulics pop the stroller to its full size of 31 x 25.5 x 39.5 inches in mere seconds. It is not as light as some of the Ultralight strollers, however, at 33.2 pounds, it is not nearly as heavy or bulky as a standard stroller of its class.

This stroller has plenty of features that come standard for both you and your baby. Things such as an oversized canopy with a visor that is height adjustable so that taller children can ride without hitting their heads. The 5-point harness’ height has three height adjustments so that it can be fitted properly as your child grows. These straps are also covered in a neoprene cover to make sure that they do not pinch or rub your child. It also comes with an adjustable handle and large shopping basket for the parents. To further personalize this stroller, there are many options that are compatible available

How does it work?

The Quinny Buzz Xtra is noticeably different from other strollers as soon as you set it up. From that first press of a button that has you watching the stroller lift itself up, you will realize that you have been struggling with strollers for far too long. Unfortunately, it is not closed, in the same way, however, folding this stroller is fairly easy and can be done with or without the seat attached.

The foam filled rubber tires are excellent for all urban areas, from walking in the mall to the city park. For regular terrain, you can use the stroller with the front wheel on its swivel setting for a more agile stroller. For rougher terrain such as grass and gravel, you can lock the front wheel to power through areas that most strollers would get stuck.

Cleaning this stroller is fairly easy as the materials are all water repellent, and so a quick wipe with a damp cloth should do the trick. The fact that the seat is easily removed makes this even easier as you can move the seat to a comfortable location to clean it.

How well does it work?

The Quinny Buzz Xtra is very good at handling the day-to-day tasks of a family living in the city. It handles nicely on concrete, tile, gravel, and even grass without issue. It is easy to fold and even easier to open which, when you add in the fact it is compact makes it ideal for taking in the car on all your journeys.

The large shopping basket takes care of your diaper bag and any other items you are bringing with you safely and securely.

Unfortunately, it is not expandable so only one child can ride in it, and it is rather heavy. This stroller is also not suitable for jogging as the front wheel is simply too small and wide. The main issue with this stroller is that it requires adapters and other accessories which need to be bought on their own to make it suitable for a child who cannot yet sit on their own. While there are adapters that make it suitable for many of today’s most popular infant car seats, the added cost can be frustrating.

Overall Impression

Quinny Buzz InfantThe Quinny Buzz Xtra is an excellent stroller for families living in the city as it is very fashionable, has plenty of options available in regards to use, and is convenient. Areas with a lot of large rocks may not be good for this stroller as it was not built to handle a non-urban area.

It uses new ways of opening the stroller that many parents will be happy to see as it can make life much easier.

It is a good thing that they have reduced the weight and made it slightly smaller when folded over the years as this makes it more portable and easier to carry.

Is It a Good Buy?

Overall, excellent stroller for the price. Stylish, functional, plenty of options.  It is hard to find a truly bad point about this stroller as the not-so-good points are the same as most strollers.  This is why I think it is a good stroller to buy.
